A country I would like to visit

A country I would like to visit is Greece. This place is in southeast of Europe with a large number of island in the Mediterranean Sea and this official lenguage is a greek. Greece is a practically  the cradle of the occidental civilization, This because of this country  apparead the first thinkers who established the first concepts of philosophy.


I would like to visit this country because it has beautiful landscapes, monuments  and a great history, so once there, it would to be interesting to apreciate landscapes and to know it’s mythology and history of the different monuments in that place.


Because of this interesting places like Santorini, Mykonos or Athens, is that i would like this country for go to turism and be able to do apreciate natural landscapes and to get know the mythology and history of the differents monuments, besides  being able to know a distant culture from the inside. However, I wouldn’t like to live there permanently, because in other counties there are better opportunities for work .

Why did I choose my major?

Chiloé National Park Hi, I am studying engineering in renewable natural resources in the university of Chile. When I was a child I wanted to be a soccer player. And while I was growing I thougth that I liked nutrition, but I finally decided on a career that involves the environment. Pumillahue, Chiloé At the time where I have to take a final decision, my thougths was between marine biology and environmental civil engineering, and I discarded the first one because it's dictated far away from my home, and the second one because it required a high score to applied. I choosed this career because I liked natural resources and I am interested on his managment. My experience in the university is good, because I had met new people inside and outside of my faculty and I have been able to be part of a new sport team.

My study programme

The curriculum of the renewable natural resources engineering career at the University of Chile I feel isn’t bad, but there are some subjects in which we see the same content as in past subjects, so that the total career is unnecessarily lengthened, time is lost in classes and opportunities to add other subjects with new content are lost. There are also subjects with an excessive load, and others with very little, so there’s a lack of regulation to cushion the demand in these subjects. On the other hand, the Faculty of Agronomy doesn’t have the best infrastructure, so there’re instances of learning that cannot be done properly, such as laboratories, so we don’t always have the best learning. In addition, we have very little field trips, so we lose valuable instances in the career. If I could make changes in the curriculum, I'd remove some more social and humanistic subjects and implement more scientific and engineering subjects, and that the subjects that don’t require attendan...

My dream job

When I was a child I did not have a dream job, but I had to wait until I left school to decide on a preference, where I was undecided between the health area and the environmental area, where I ended up choosing engineering in renewable natural resources at the University of Chile, which was influenced by the fact that every year I traveled to the south of Chile. The skills I need to be a good natural resources engineer are to be able to understand natural, social and political environments and the relationships between them, as well as to have a multidisciplinary vision in order to better understand different communities and the decisions made by others. The truth, I still don’t imagine myself working in the future, but I think that in the future I would like to contribute to the sustainable development of the country trough geographic informatic system (GIS) and remote sensing, so clearly I would like   to specialize   in something   related to these issues.
